A Good News Story

It's always great hearing how our kids go once they've left us.

An ex-student, one of those kids that wasn't working to her full potential for various reasons: her year group had a large number of challenging kids, she flew under the radar, helped a lot to manage things at home and of course, she was a teenager with the nightmare that is after all.  On top of that she wasn't a follower, didn't suffer fools, she could be hot-tempered and spoke her mind so she drew a lot of fire from her peers.

Sadly for us (for she was a lovely kid) she decided to leave us and try her luck getting her Year 10 Certificate at CIT, with a more matured crowd.  She succeeded, putting her head down and getting on with it, and went on to do her Certificate 3 in Early Child Care while she held down a full time job.  Now at 17, with her original year level peers doing their last year at College, she has gotten into Uni and is about to commence her Teaching Degree in order to go into Pre-School teaching.

We don't often get to see those journeys, and it is always wonderful to meet up with kids who've come through our school and hear what they're up to - but seeing kids like her show their strength in adversity at such a young age and then being able to take their potential and run with it, is absolutely inspiring.  None of us are too grown-up not to take a lesson from that.
