Three of our lovely Year 10 students attended the
ACT Year 10 Excellence Awards, celebrating students from that year, who have
excelled in our ACT public schools. Students received their awards from Minister Joy Burch and a $50
gift voucher from the sponsors at Paperchain Bookstore.
"Gavin has worked at a consistently high level
throughout his 4 years of high school. He has achieved excellent results across
all subject areas, excelling in Mathematics and English. Gavin is also highly
involved in the schools’ circus program, performing in this years’ Limelight
Festival, and the schools’ Big Night Out performance. Gavin is highly involved
in the Student Leadership Group, focusing on the well-being and environment of
the school community."
"Ayesha is a progressive and outstanding
member of the school community. Her attitude towards her studies and her drive
to succeed in the field of Medicine allows her to focus sharply on her goals.
Ayesha has a strong sense of social justice, empathy and resilience and has
spoken with younger students about the importance of remaining true to your
ideals. Ayesha has set a strong foundation for her future with a dedication
that is to be admired and followed."
And Anthony Perkovic, our current UCHSK
School Board Student Representative, was awarded as an active and
informed citizen:
"Anthony is a mature student who demonstrates
a strong sense of social justice and commitment to his school
community. Anthony’s critical thinking skills allow him to
analyse issues within the school and negotiate well with the staff and other
students to implement appropriate strategies. This is demonstrated in his role
as the Chairperson and Student Representative on the school board and as a
member of the School Leadership Group. His intelligent, generous and
caring nature is deeply valued by our school community."
We are enormously proud of these three students who
have been such a fixture in our school for the last four years; we wish them
well and look forward to hearing about their futures in the merry-go-round of our big wide world. (I'm not crying...#crying)
Tate Needham from T8 Photography took the fabulous photos of all the students at the Awards Ceremony (click our students' names above for the links). Mr Barry took the lovely, but less formal, photographs. We thank them both, heartily!
