Remembrance Day

UCHSK commemorated Remembrance Day today at 11.00am.  Ms Read led us in the minute silence and Year 7's Ella, read us The Ode that comes from the traditional Remembrance poem, For The Fallen by English poet, Laurence Binyon:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

The minute of reflection sowed some discussion in classes, with children raising their understanding of Remembrance Day and what it meant in their families and the loved ones who were remembered at this time, which provided clarity for students unfamiliar with the tradition.
