Last weekend, UC High School was once
again able to host another wonderful community event.
Scale Modellers from around Australia met to sell and swap
their models, and display scenes they had made and
painted. It is awe inspiring to see the detail and realise the many long hours
of dedicated building (with sometimes very, very, tiny pieces) that go into the
making of models.
One display took my eye in particular.
It was
amazing. Our very own Model Rail mentors were on site with their railway display and ever smiling faces. Their willingness to have a chat to whoever went past their stall, be they adult or child made a big hit.
Well done to all
our Model Rail enthusiasts who volunteered their time.
A very hotly contested model competition was held with
entries from model makers in cars, tanks, planes, famous people, and much more.
It was great to have a look and try to decide who would have been the winner if
I was choosing. Obviously authenticity is a big part of this decision and if I
had been a judge, the final result would have been quite different. Well done to
all the people who entered.
I do hope all of our community takes the opportunity to
visit these wonderful Expos that we are very fortunate to host. Take a while
just to have a look and be prepared to be amazed. Who knows where later life
may lead you.
Thank you to Rotary who cooked the food and kept all well
fed on the weekend. We hope this helped to boost Rotary’s fundraising efforts
for 2015.
For your
reference in 2016 we will host the Expos below:
